This Cookie Policy explains how Meld Management Limited ("we", "us", or "our") uses cookies and similar technologies on our website at www.meldsignal.com and in the MeldSignal application at app.meldsignal.com (together, the "Services"). It should be read together with our Privacy Notice, which describes how we handle personal information generally.
What are cookies?
Cookies are small data files placed on your computer or mobile device when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work, to keep you signed in, and, on many sites, to track and profile visitors. This policy explains which of those things happen here.
The website: analytics cookies, only if you press Accept
On your first visit to www.meldsignal.com, a banner says: "We use cookies to see how people find and use the site. Nothing else." with two buttons, Accept and Decline.
Before you choose, Google Analytics is told that analytics storage is denied, and it sets no cookies.
If you press Accept, Google Analytics sets the two cookies below. They tell us how people find and use the site: the pages visited, for how long, where visitors came from, and which links into the MeldSignal application are clicked. Nothing else.
If you press Decline, no analytics cookie is set.
Whichever you choose, Google may still receive a basic signal that a page was viewed, with no cookie and no identifier attached.

Your choice is kept in your browser's localStorage under ms_cookie_consent, so the banner does not ask again. To choose again, clear the site's data in your browser; the banner then asks once more.
Framer, which hosts the website, also counts page visits without setting cookies. We do not use advertising cookies, and we do not allow third parties to serve advertising through our Services.
The application: one cookie, only while it is closed

ms_open stops being set when the application opens to everyone. The application sets no other cookies from our own code, and uses no analytics or advertising cookies.
Strictly necessary cookies from our infrastructure
The parties that operate our infrastructure may set a small number of strictly necessary cookies of their own: our website is published with Framer, and the MeldSignal application is hosted by Render and served through Cloudflare, our DNS and edge security provider. Cookies of this kind exist for connection routing, load balancing, security, and bot protection. They are required for the Services to function securely, they are not used to track you across other websites for our benefit, and they are exempt from consent requirements under PECR and the GDPR ePrivacy rules.
Browser storage
The MeldSignal application keeps you signed in with a session held in your browser's localStorage, which lasts 30 days unless you sign out. It also uses sessionStorage to keep the pages you have just opened for up to twenty seconds, so that moving between them is quicker. Both are similar in function to a cookie but are governed by your browser's storage controls; you can clear them at any time through your browser's privacy settings. Clearing localStorage signs you out.
Shared pages
When someone opens a page shared with a link, the application records that the page was opened and how long it stayed open, so the person who shared it can see that it was read. No cookie is set for this and the viewer is not identified.
Our transactional emails (for example, a notification that your plan is ready, or the Monday update) are sent through Postmark, our email service provider, and include a standard delivery-tracking element that records opens, clicks, bounces, and delivery events. We use this information to verify deliverability and diagnose failed sends, never for marketing analytics. We do not send marketing email campaigns measured by tracking pixels.
How can you control cookies?
You can set or amend your web browser controls to accept or refuse cookies at any time; your browser's help menu explains how. On the website, Decline keeps analytics cookies off. Refusing the strictly necessary cookies set by our infrastructure providers, or ms_open while the application is closed, may stop you signing in or reaching the application.
How often will we update this Cookie Policy?
We will update this policy as needed to reflect changes in the technologies we use or for operational, legal, or regulatory reasons. The date at the top indicates when it was last updated.
